Unassisted Home Birth

Unassisted Home Birth (UHB) is the act of intentionally going through the birth process without a licensed doctor or midwife. It is also sometimes referred to as an Unhindered Birth, Freebirth, Unassisted Childbirth, DIY Birth, and even Autonomous Birth. For many dynasties, it is the act of giving birth at home, or in any other comfortable space, with the help of loved ones that you would like to have present for your child’s coming forward. It is a sacred process and you should not be afraid to exercise your birthright in doing so, as long as it is in a healthy and safe manner.

Did you know? Most children born into the world are born “unassisted”, meaning without a paid, trained, licensed attendant. Most of these types of births happen in countries where medical assistance is unavailable or very limited in regards to who receives care. An age old process will not stop just because “licensed professionals” are not present or willing. Nature will continue to move forward and that is just what birth is, a natural process that is a part of nature.

Is an Unassisted Home Birth Legal?

The laws and statutes regarding Unassisted Home Births vary from state to state, country to country. Within the United States Corporate boundaries, Unassisted Home Birth is completely legal in every state. However, some states make it illegal for a licensed midwife to attend home births, but the case still remains that birthing at home “unattended” is legal. That does not mean that you can’t birth at home and have a Doula, Birth Assistant, or Traditional Birth Attendants, your Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Husband, etc.

In most other places, unassisted child birth is a legal uncertainty. While many women in other places like Europe, Africa, Australia, UK, China do give birth at home, they are sometimes harassed when they bring their children into hospitals for check-ups. We, at TLCMamas™, do not aim to tell you what to do, but as long as your child is healthy, we say hold off on all hospital visits for at least a few weeks or only when absolutely necessary, like emergencies. You, as the mother, know what is best for the child you gave birth to. You are your own best caregiver!

Speaking from the perspective of natural law, giving birth to your child in whichever way you please is your BIRTHRIGHT (Jus Sanguinis). This is something that no one can take away from you. Hospitals and doctors attending births is a very new concept. Who would ordain births to take place in the same place that death and sickness occur? This is not natural and it is not Divine, this is a man-made CONcept.
